FiLEX Update - Image Resizing »

The initial idea of FiLEX was to allow users to control the directory structure and content on server running either Coldfusion or Railo. However, since its original concept with that in mind, i have recently updated the functionality of this to provide control of image optimization by the user, the core usage and functionality of FiLEX is still available and can be found here.

Once files have been uploaded to the server, any images that can be resized can be dragged into a new window and added to a list for bulk image resizing. Further options provided to the user allow for multiple sizes to be created at once on a selection of images and these can be either resized proportionally (constrained by width or height) or forcing a resize of a set width and height.

Although Image resizing being the main feature added to FiLEX, another useful feature is the creation of an .ini file that can control the basic configuration of the application. As it currently stands the .ini handles the variables for things such as max file size, dimensions of image resizes, allowed files for uploading and extensions that offer resize capabilities. Although not many configurations are currenly on offer, it does provide the scope to begin adding further configuration variables that i would see fit.

All full list of functions at this current stage :

  • Core functionality
  • Configuration file to control application variables
  • Max file size limit
  • Restriction of certain file types
  • Image resizing
  • Drag and drop files for resize
  • Dynamic image dimensions controlled via configuration file
  • Bulk image resizing
  • Proportional and forced image resize

The brief video covers the new aspects that i have introduced to FiLEX. Core functionality, and a demo video, can be found here.
